Spamalot: A Timeless Theatrical Experience
More than two decades after its debut, "Spamalot," an adaptation of the 1975 film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," continues to entertain audiences with its unique blend of humor and musicality. While it may not hold the same iconic status as classics like "Les Misrables" or "The Phantom of the Opera," this Tony Award-winning production remains a vibrant and engaging farce. Written by Eric Idle and John Du Prez, "Spamalot" features a mix of original songs and tunes from previous Monty Python works, ensuring its relevance and appeal.
The show invites audience participation, encouraging laughter and interaction through clever cultural references and memorable one-liners. Its self-referential nature adds depth, as it humorously explores the quest for the Holy Grail while acknowledging its theatricality. With updated content that resonates with contemporary audiences, including local references and modern lingo, "Spamalot" captivates with its energetic performances. The cast's dynamic delivery ensures a continuous stream of laughter, making it a must-see for theater enthusiasts.

The Sound Of Music Detroit Theatre reviews
Sound Of Music Was Incredible
I am a music director/conductor/musician/performer in the LaGrange area and I thought that the Drury Lane production of "Sound of Music" was stellar on every level. The scenery, acting, singing, lighting and sound were all incredible. I would highly recommend this show, and others at this venue, to fellow musicians, friends and family without any reservations. The producers, directors, and entire company are to be applauded for their efforts - Just magnificent!
If there were one area I would like to see different, it would be to use real instruments all the way around in the pit. Yes, there was a violinist, a reed specialist, low brass specialist and percussionist, but filling in the other instruments with synthesized sounds just doesn't cut it for me. I realize I listen differently and most likely more discriminately than the average listener due to my profession but it seems to me that if you are going to put on a production at that level of artistry, that the pit music should be treated in the same way which would be to use real instrumentation for each part in the score. Of course this is merely a suggestion and I say this without knowing your budget restrictions, space restrictions, etc., but wanted to share this, the only area where I was not 'blown away'. I should say though that the musicians were fantastic, polished and blended well.
Unbelievably great actors!
My son and went to the afternoon show. I was not thrilled to be going but the thought of a good outing with my son was well worth the adventure. 10 minutes into the show and I knew the old memories of the TV show clouded by cobwebs had misdirected my thoughts. It was amaizing! The actors were even better than amaizing! They were perfect and drew you into the play like no other... I never like to see something twice, but I would definitely see this show again. Loved it! Was an awesome time spent with my 15 year old son.
